This new project by pianist Rosario Di Rosa, POP CORN REFLECTIONS, is the point of departure for a new partnership with NAU Records. With this new set of music Di Rosa starts a new path far away from the traditional jazz language of past productions. The music in his previous works was composed with a strong influence of visual images ranging from different fields (memories and literature). On the other hand this project is based exclusively on the inner mechanics of musical language. The compositional effort is reduced to the bare minimum, using scores that, most of the time, are 2 or 3 bars long. The idea is to analyze separately the basic aspects of music (harmony, melody and rhythm) in order to develop them through improvisation, which is not just a vehicle for self expression, but a true compositional tool of development. This is the reason why every tune is based on a “pattern”, a generative cell based on different parameters (intervallic structures, riffs, modules, twelve tone rows), which is the starting point for different elaborations by the three instruments.
